The 117th Canton Fair will be kicking off this April 15th in Guangzhou, China – the capital and largest city in the South China province of Guangdong.
Held in three separate phases (April 15th – 19th; April 23rd – 27th; and May 1st – 5th), the Canton Fair is one of the most important trade shows in China, particularly for manufacturers.
First held in 1957, the Canton Fair expects to see participation of at least fifty trading delegations from the top foreign trade corporations in China in sectors including factories, research institutions, foreign trade, and private enterprises, to name a few. In addition, over 300 companies from over 35 countries are also expected to be in attendance.
Fifty trading delegations, being composed of thousands of China’s best foreign trade corporations (enterprises), take part in the Fair. These include private enterprises, factories, scientific research institutions, wholly foreign-owned enterprises, and foreign trade companies. The 101st fair saw 314 different companies from 36 countries.
While the Canton Fair will primarily focus on export and import trade, there will also be various other types of business activities present that will closely affect the Chinese manufacturing industry including commodity inspections, transportation, insurance, and economic/technical cooperation and exchanges. In addition, ITI Manufacturing has made it a priority to have staff present annually at the Canton Fair in order to stay on top of the latest happening and trends in the Chinese manufacturing industry. We are looking forward to the 117th Fair starting this week!
