Manufactured in China? Not Really!

There has been a developing trend with today’s consumers toward favoring goods produced in the United States over those manufactured in China as well as other international locations. Those able to keep their business domestic are making it known; however, many consumers don’t realize exactly how complex international trade is, or what a “Made in China” sticker on a product really means. Read on to learn why.

Global Manufacturing Trends Continue to Rise

One example of modern trends in global manufacturing and trade is Apple. It’s true that many of their iPhones and other products are assembled in China. It’s also true that this helps account for a recent trade surplus with the U.S. The false assumption most people make is the amount of money leaving U.S. soil and heading overseas. Some consumers have gone to the lengths of boycotting Apple products assuming that they are preventing their money from going to support a foreign power instead of their own domestic concerns. What they do not realize is that they are placing themselves at an inconvenience for naught, as fewer than four percent of the money spent on a new iPhone is accounted for by those parts that are manufactured in China. In reality, component parts are sourced from the U.S., Japan, Germany, and South Korea. In other words, overseas manufacturing is now a global affair in which China happens to play a particularly visible role.

Global Trading is Good for All

Ultimately, global trade is a positive situation for everyone when it’s done fairly. As more countries increase participation, we may find increasing instances of manufactured products being produced all over the world. China may not always be the mega-assembly and manufacturing center it is currently. This explains why made in China has committed to increasing in quality and high-tech innovation by the year 2025. US-based liaison companies like ITI Manufacturing help take the scare and the confusion out of outsourcing some or all parts of a product to China. With their expertise, US businesses responsible for supplying their custom products can flourish and fully experience the advantages that come with China manufacturing, despite the many changes that may be taking place within the global manufacturing industry.

Increased Production of Complex & Innovative Products

Many complex products today literally cannot be fully sourced and produced exclusively in any single country – China, the USA anywhere.   The reality and interdependence of the global economy has come about due to the strengths and efficiencies of certain countries to produce and assemble various products.  The global economy offers cost saving benefits as well as the opportunity for more people to enjoy products that would be too costly otherwise.

Success Begins with ITI Manufacturing

ITI Manufacturing has over 40 years’ experience helping US companies navigate the increasingly complex field of international trade and production.  Now small, medium, and large businesses can all take advantage of global resources and supply chains. With the global economy and global supply chain it is more complex than ever before to find the right producer for custom goods particularly for those who haven’t had sufficient time and experience to network with foreign manufacturers and create positive working business relationships.

At ITI Manufacturing, we’re here to help make manufactured in China work for you by first determining if your particular product is well-suited for outsourcing overseas.
